Krista L. Sherkey
Mrs. Krista L. Sherkey is the founder and president of M. Pitcher – a creative firm specializing in branding, marketing, strategic communications, advocacy outreach and philanthropic program development in support of veterans and military family initiatives. Named after Revolutionary War heroine and military spouse Molly Pitcher, the firm’s team is comprised of all military spouses providing a level of unique insight into the veterans and military family issues platform. As the spouse of a senior Army field artillery officer, Mrs. Sherkey is passionate about issues surrounding military spouse employment, entrepreneurship, and mental health.
In addition to leading M. Pitcher, Mrs. Sherkey serves as the Strategic Communications Advisor to the Global War on Terrorism Memorial Foundation in Washington, D.C. The Global War on Terrorism Memorial Foundation is a non-profit whose mission is to provide the organizing, fundraising, and coordinating efforts to build a memorial on the National Mall in Washington D.C. to honor our fallen warriors, US services members, their families, and all those who supported our nation’s longest war.
Prior to founding M.Pitcher, Mrs. Sherkey handled a diverse range of corporate and non-profit clients as president of Streamline6 Communications, Inc. where she routinely placed her clients in media outlets such as The Wall Street Journal, BusinessWeek, Forbes, Smart Money, The New York Times, The Washington Post, The Philadelphia Inquirer, Barron’s, Investor’s Business Daily, Discovery Magazine, CNBC, FOX, FOX Business and Bloomberg News.
Mrs. Sherkey also worked in media relations and public affairs for The Center For Strategic Tax Reform in Washington, D.C. where she focused on fiscal reform and economic policy. In this position, she assisted in testimony preparation for the President’s Advisory Panel for Federal Tax Reform, planned monthly coalition seminars for leading policymakers, senators and congressmen on economic and fiscal policy, worked with members of the media and assisted Visiting Fellows in policy research at the Heritage Foundation.
In 2007, Mrs. Sherkey received her Master of Public Policy from George Mason University and holds a Bachelor of Arts in History from the College of Charleston. Mrs. Sherkey was awarded the Molly Pitcher Award by the 25th Infantry Division, 2-11 Field Artillery Battalion for her dedication to service on behalf of all Field Artillery soldiers, named a “2015 Bucks County Mover and Shaker,” and is a graduate of the Central Bucks Chamber of Commerce Leadership Advancement Course. Mrs. Sherkey has served as the Professional Development Chair for the national PRSA Financial Communications Section, and is a member of the National Association of Professional Businesswomen. She has also been featured in The Wall Street Journal’s Entrepreneur Column for small business innovation.
